Controversial from its official release, the November 11, 2020<\/b>the documentary \" Hold-up, return on a chaos \" produced by Pierre Barn\u00e9rias<\/b>, Nicolas R\u00e9outsky<\/b> and Christophe Coss\u00e9<\/b> was created by a participatory financing<\/b>. It was intended to denounce the poor management of the Covid-19 health crisis by the French authorities. However, throughout the documentary, the latter took on another theme with the appearance of a global conspiracy according to some media.<\/p>\n\n

Although decried by some, this documentary has enormously fed the social networks<\/b>. This virality was the subject of a study conducted by Kap Code and the Jean Jaur\u00e8s Foundation.<\/a><\/p>\n\n

A division of the Internet users<\/h2>\n\n

Over the period from September 11, 2020 to January 14, 2021, nearly 60,320 Internet users<\/b> expressed themselves on Twitter about Hold-up. The analysis of 52,033 tweets<\/b> and 159,423 retweets<\/b> revealed a division within this population.<\/p>\n\n

<\/a><\/a>Indeed, from the very first preview of the film, a feeling of \"awakening\" is described in many messages by the first spectators who exhort to a massive sharing <\/strong>of the film. The first reactions of criticism and censorship from certain media outlets were heard. Different communities<\/a> are thus formed, without knowing it, in 4 distinct groups: the \"pro\", the \"anti\", the \"hesitants\" and the \"journalists\".<\/p>\n\n

The demands of the \"pro\" are gaining momentum as they leave the movie Hold-up<\/strong> initially on the platform Vimeo<\/strong>. Subsequently, distrust and opposition to the media was born among the latter, following the withdrawal of the documentary from several platforms. The media that denounce the circulation of false information<\/strong> through the film.<\/p>\n\n

The virality of the documentary Hold-up<\/h2>\n\n

The removal of the documentary Hold-Up, <\/strong>by certain platforms has resulted in a Streisand<\/em>. This act of withdrawal is seen as a signal of validation of the theses evoked in the documentary, with a snowball effect of the shares of the documentary, notably on the independent platform Odysee<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n

The analysis of the urls shared by the accounts of \"pro\" Internet users shows, among other things, that this sharing is essentially done by youth accounts<\/strong>. Thus, we can see a peak in the creation of accounts during the year 2020. A closer look at some of these young accounts reveals that they are active only to share or retweet messages about the movie Hold-Up. It would then appear that these accounts were created solely for this purpose. This could correspond to the use of a bot strategy, with the aim of reinforcing the virality phenomenon<\/strong> around the film. On the one hand the movie Hold-Up<\/strong> appears as an important argument to denounce a sanitary dictatorship and to claim the manufacture of Covid-19. While on the other hand it would be a source of false information<\/strong>. However, this film reveals an important participation of social networks<\/strong> in the virality of the documentary.<\/p>\n\n
